Emerald Park

It is a scheme of farmhouses located along the State Highway near Thol lake, Ahmedabad. The scheme offers an unique opportunity for residents to “create their own house” through a series of choices – they can select a plot size from among the six sizes; next they select a house type from six types. IORA Studio is involved in evolving the landscape design. The same concept is carried over for landscape design also; six different landscapes have been designed for the residents to choose from. A common theme for the landscape design is to create a place immediate to the dwelling, extending the unit and at the same time offering an external habitable place, shaded with trees. 80% of the open space is planted with local trees, having seasonal variation. A few of them bear fruits or have medicinal values. The lawn area is kept to a minimum so that the use of water is curtailed and the maintenance is easy.
