Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has identified Jawaharnagar, a 15sq.km. area north-east of Hyderabad city as a major counter magnet to the city core. It is envisaged to be developed as an IT hub and grow as a dynamic economic generator of the Metropolitan Area. The project is to prepare a Comprehensive Development Plan for the larger region of 90sq.km area, laying out the basic structure and road network and delineating the land uses within the sub-sectors. It also includes preparing a Layout Plan for the Jawaharnagar site (15 sq.km), with detailed land use allocations, amenity distribution, open space network, infrastructure provision, etc. The next stage of the project includes framing of the urban design guidelines for certain major spines and laying out the footprint for the commercial and institutional spines.
