Gems & Jewellery Park
The Gujarat Diamond Bourse, along with Gujarat Government is proposing a Gems and Jewellery Park at Icchhapore, Surat. The purpose of the park is to expand the already established diamond industry in Surat.
The principal aim is to develop a SEZ of an international standard, simultaneously reflecting the changing face of our living environment. It is also an attempt at transcending the usual image and thought processes attached to the design of such industrial areas. It will attempt towards becoming a trendsetter for future developments, wherein along with economic development, ecology is also thought about as a principal guideline for design.
Landscape here treats the central area of 22 acres as an area contributing to local bio-diversity, with introduced water bodies and generated micro climates with the mixed planting of upper-storey and under-storey. The central areas also become an unhindered green corridor for movement of fauna. The tree canopies near the roads are wide enough to merge into each other so that the movements are secure. The water for the landscape is provided by the Sewage Treatment Plant. Thus, the overall aim is to generate sustainable environment with a green landscape.
